The keto chicken lettuce wrap was inspired by one of my favorite appetizers at PF Changs. This was made with ground chicken wrapped in large leaves of lettuce. Often, the sauces used in the ground chicken have a high carbohydrate content and could sometimes be too high for keto. This is a recipe when homemade can ensure that it is low carb. I used a mix of soy sauce, hoisin sauce and fish sauce in controlled levels to make sure this recipe is keto friendly. Keto Chicken Lettuce Wrap Instructions
Sauce Preparation
In a bowl mix 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp hoisin sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar and 1 tsp sesame seed oil and set aside.
Cooking the ground chicken
Put pan on stove on medium heat and add 2 tbsp of olive oil. Then add 1/2 cup chopped onions, stir and cook until soft. Then 1/2 tbsp garlic paste and 1/2 tbsp ginger paste and stir. Next add 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper and stir. Then push vegetables to one side of pan. Then add 1 lbs ground chicken to the empty side of pan. As the chicken gets cooked, mix with the vegetables. Then add the sauce that was prepared earlier and mix well. Then add 1/4 cup chopped spring onions and mix well. Make sure to cook until chicken starts to get dry.
Finalizing Lettuce Wraps
Wash the butter lettuce leaves in water and pat dry with paper towels. Then fill about 4 tbsp of ground chicken in each lettuce leaf. Recipe makes about 6 keto chicken lettuce wraps.
